Reaction Kinetics and Mechanism of VOCs Combustion on Mn-Ce-SBA-15

A propane combustion catalyst based on Mn and Ce supported by SBA-15 was prepared the “two-solvents” method aiming at possible application in catalytic converters for abatement of alkanes waste (exhaust) gases. The characterization carried out SAXS, N2-physisorption, XRD, TEM, XPS, EPR H2-TPR methods. catalysts’ performance evaluated tests methane, butane. reaction kinetics investigation showed that orders towards oxygen were 0.7 0.1, respectively. negative order water (?0.3) shows an inhibiting effect molecules. Based data from instrumental methods, experiments mathematic modeling kinetics, one may conclude Mars–van Krevelen type mechanism is most probable complete oxidation over single bi-component Mn-Ce catalysts. fine dispersion manganese cerium oxide their strong interaction inside channels molecular sieve leads to formation difficult reduce phases consequently, lower activity compared mono-component catalyst. It confirmed meso-structure not modified during reaction, thus it can prevent agglomeration particles.
